Remodeling Down to a Science

Custom remodels demand a knowledge of the process and systems that make a house function. As of December 2009, Sherlock Homes has completed 16 major ($1 million+) custom home remodels in Aspen and Snowmass Village. We have mastered the art of the foreseeing the unknowns, protecting the areas ‘not to be disturbed’ and creating a budget and timeline that can be met.

We use strategies like the competitive bid selection process to assure fair pricing to our clients. We also insist that our subcontractors work from a quantified bid proposal whenever possible. This is achieved by creating a Scope of Work from which they can offer a bid. Our project managers are trained to put the work out for bid to at least three qualified subcontractors - whom we've worked with previously - in each category, whenever possible. In turn, the subcontractors are more accountable for their work and the budget. Additions to the Scope of Work are undisputedly extras.

Sherlock Homes has worked with many home and condominium owners in Aspen, Snowmass and throughout the Roaring Fork Valley to plan and manage their remodel building project. If at some point a design of a certain item is required, we have a resource to match all design styles.
